Elke was awarded the Award for Women in Agriculture in Yancey County. It was a wonderful surprise and great honor.
The National Farm-City Week originated in 1955 to provide a link between our nation's rural and urban people. Elke was
presented the award for her ongoing work in education on the farm, her 4-H involvement and for being a inspiration to other
women entering agricultural endeavors. Not bad for a kid from the suburbs!
